Introduction:

Synthetic sol-gel. It uses mesoporous amorphous metal silicate, a new material in the catalytic conversion of methane, and adds rare earth element or nickel, an active ingredient in the synthesis stage. This is what it is different from known mesoporous zeolite systems. The three-dimensional mesoporous structure of these materials can eliminate the internal diffusion restrictions of transporting organic molecules, therefore creating more opportunities for catalytic conversion.

A study made in cooperation with the Materials, Surface and Catalytic Process Laboratory of the University of Strasbourg (France) shows that, mesoporous nickel silicates exhibit high activity, selectivity and stability in the reaction in which carbon dioxide turns methane into syngas. At 750-800 ℃ and under the condition of atmospheric pressure, the conversion rate of CO2 and CH4 exceeds 90%, the selectivity of H2 generation reaches 80%, and the selectivity of CO generation reaches 60%.

Technological advantages:

Studies show that, the rhodium-free catalyst which can be successfully made by adding nickel to mother liquor of mesoporous amorphous metal silicate has similar activity, selectivity and stability to that of rhodium catalysts.
