On September 11, Biotechnology Matchmaking Conference between Jiangsu and Belgium Flanders Region was held in Jiangning high-tech Zone of Nanjing. The event was hosted by Jiangsu Center of International Technology Transfer, a department of Productivity Promotion Center of Jiangsu Province and other units, also was strongly supported by Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai.

Bart Boschmans (Lin Bosen), commercial consul of Flanders region of Belgian Consulate General in Shanghai, and Zhao Yangwei, director of International Cooperation Division of Science and Technology Department of Jiangsu Provincial Government attended the conference and made a speech. At the conference, representatives of Flanders Investment and Trade Bureau and Flanders regional institutions respectively made the introduction of life science industry and made matchmaking discussion with representatives of more than 40 enterprises from Jiangsu Province. Both sides hope to take this exchange conference as an opportunity to deepen understanding and expand common ground thus enhancing scientific and technological innovation exchanges and cooperation.

Flanders region is located in the north of Belgium, the center of Western Europe, with a population of 490 million in the European Union, convenient transportation, developed logistics condition, frequent trade activities, high-quality multilingual talents, first-class European universities and advanced research and development institutions. Jiangsu also enjoys the good industrial foundation, an innovative environment and a huge demand for innovation. So the market potential of new technologies and products is huge and the prospects of scientific and technological fields as well as industrial cooperation between the two sides are very broad.
