On March 6, with the support from Jiangsu Science and Technology Department and the British Consulate General in Shanghai, 2018 Jiangsu-UK Cell and Gene Therapy Seminar, jointly sponsored by Jiangsu Center of International Technology Transfer, Wuxi Science and Technology Bureau, and Wuxi Foreign S&T Exchange Center, was successfully held in Mashan Life Science Park in Binhu District. More than 30 representatives attended this event including officials from the British Consulate-General in Shanghai, four experts from the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, and representatives from related companies, hospitals, industrial parks.

Before the seminar, British experts visited the Mashan Life Science and Technology Park and the Boya Stem Cell Technology Co., Ltd. located in the park and were impressed by the development of the life science industry in Jiangsu. At the meeting, experts from the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult introduced the Innovation Center, the latest non-clinical research results in the field of cell and gene therapy, and relevant European laws and regulations, and expressed strong wildlings to cooperate with enterprises in Jiangsu. Representatives of the Jiangsu companies and medical institutions responded positively. Through this seminar, both sides deepened mutual understanding in the field of cell and gene therapy. Many of the participants said that they hope to continue further in-depth discussions with the UK side after the meeting.

In 2017, the first round of the Jiangsu-UK Industrial Challenge Programme was successfully implemented. On this basis, the two parties will cooperate in organizing a series of projects matchmaking and exchange activities and actively promote the scientific and technological cooperation between Jiangsu and UK.
