China (Jiangsu) –UK Industrial Challenge Programme was successfully held in Nanjing on May 10. Co-organized by Jiangsu Science and Technology Department and Innovate UK and undertaken by Jiangsu Center of International Technology Transfer, China (Jiangsu) –UK Industrial Challenge Programme Briefing Conference was successfully held in Nanjing on May 10. Ms. Katrina Hayter, Deputy Director of Innovate UK attended the conference with the delegation from Innovate UK. More than 50 delegates from more than 40 relevant enterprises and research institutions of cities such as Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Zhenjiang, Lianyungang participate this Conference.

Zhao Yangwei, the Director of International Cooperation Division of JSTD and Ms. Holly White, the Science and Technology Counsellor of the British Consulate in Shanghai delivered speeches on the Conference. The delegates from Innovate UK made detailed introduction on innovation in the United Kingdom from aspects such as the advantages of industry, study and research, the challenges they faced and measures to build an innovation system, and made in-depth interpretation on the Jiangsu – the United Kingdom Industrial Challenge Cooperation Project.

On the Conference, more than 20 delegates from Jiangsu enterprises such as Jiayuan New Resources Technology Co., Ltd., Zhangjiagang Kangdexin Photoelectric Material Co., Ltd. and Wuxi Xinda Meteorological Sensor Network Technology Co., Ltd. carried out the company presentation one by one, and the topic of which covered from equipment manufacturing, electronic information, smart city, VR to biomedicine, and proposed cooperative demands for the British side. During the interaction section, the entrepreneurs discussed warmly. Both sides exchanged ideas on cooperation pattern and promotion methods, and reached cooperation intentions on some projects.

On May 11, the Innovate UK delegation visited Guodian Nanjing Automation Co., Ltd. and Nanjing Chia Tai Tianqing Medicine R&D Base. The delegates give high appraisal to Jiangsu’s ability on innovative development, and express the expectation of the promotion of in-depth exchanges and cooperation on R&D and industrial projects between Jiangsu and British enterprises through the development of China (Jiangsu) –UK Industrial Challenge Programme Briefing Conference.
