Jiangsu Companies Visited Finland, Denmark and UK and Undertook Exchanges in the fields of Smart City and Healthcare

In order to further facilitate the implementation of Finland-Jiangsu Industrial R&D Program, broaden the cooperation channels with Danish government, explore the inspiration of UK technology innovation, entrusted by JSTD, JITTC organized 8 people from 8 high-tech companies engaged in smart city and healthcare to visit Finland, Denmark and UK for matchmakings and exchanges from June 14 to 23. The delegation also paid a visit to the local demonstration of smart city district and medical research institutes.

On the basis of the communications before the visit, Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation (Tekes) organized a matchmaking meeting including technology briefings, B2B meetings and on-site visits to related institutes for Jiangsu delegation in Helsinki. Nearly 20 Finnish companies attended the event. During their trip, the delegation visited Kalasatama Smart City district of Helsinki. As the demonstration project of The Open and Smart Cities Strategy of Finland and supported by INKA, the district promotes the development of smart city technologies in healthcare, bio-economy, cyber-security, sustainable energy and intelligent transportation. The delegation was impressed by Finnish operative technologies in the field of smart city and several Jiangsu companies have reached cooperative intent with Finish entities.

In Demark, the delegation visited Copenhagen Capacity and attended the group matchmaking meetings, among which the group themed around healthcare had the liveliest discussion. Jiangsu companies have shown great interest in Finnish operative healthcare technologies. After the meetings, arranged by Copenhagen Capacity, the delegation visited the application of intelligent transportation and intelligent environment monitoring in town hall square in Copenhagen.
In UK, Innovate UK and Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) organized a matchmaking event for Jiangsu delegation in London. The event includes technology discussion, B2B meetings and on-site visits to related institutes. Almost 20 UK companies, universities and research institutes attended the meeting, some of which have reached cooperative intent and planned to apply for the financial support jointly with Jiangsu companies. During their stay, the delegation paid a visit to Future Cities Catapult which is one of the 12 national innovation centers invested and established by UK government to promote industrial innovation. Through market-based operation, Future Cities Catapult has attended more than 100 demonstrations worldwide and provided fruitful smart city solutions, which left Jiangsu representatives with a deep impression. Meanwhile, the delegation also visited Queen Mary University of London and attended the technology briefings in healthcare.

This visit is characterized by tight schedule and rich contents, which has been highly appreciated by delegation members. Through this trip, Jiangsu companies not only get a comprehensive understanding of the cutting edge research findings in top R&D institutes in UK but also a lively experience of smart city demonstration district in Nordic Europe. This visit is an excellent reference for the enterprises to explore their community outreach strategy and future development direction.
